Alu Tareko ~ Nepali Style Stir Fry Potatoes

Alu Tareko is Nepali Style Stir Fry Potatoes and in each house that I have tasted this dish,it is never the same. This is my Mom’s style of making potatoes. This dish is a side dish to a Nepali Lunch Thali but I also like to eat it on its own. I usually eat it with spoonfuls of my Granny’s Style Tomato Salsa. Enjoy ! 🙂 ~ Kamakshi

  • 500 gms Potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek ( Methi) seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric (Haldi)
  • 2 slit green Chillies
  • 4-5 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 2 tbsp Dried Coriander/ Dhania Leaves (Optional)
  • Salt as per taste


  1. Parboil the potatoes ( should not be over cooked) . Let them cool and cut then into long pieces
  2. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the methi seeds and green chillies and let them sizzle in the pan for couple of seconds.
  3. Add the potatoes, salt and turmeric and fry it for 3-5 mins. Stirring it constantly so that it does not stick to the pan. The potatoes should be slight browned.
  4. Add the dried coriander leaves . Give it a stir and fry it over low heat for another 2-4 mins.
  5. Serve Hot .

Sesame Spinach Salad

Spinach is a very nutrient-dense food. It’s low in calories yet very high in vitamins and minerals . When you consume this healthy food, you don’t need to worry about your weight-loss diet as you take in abundant, good-for-you nutrients. Enjoy this healthy and simple salad. 🙂 !

  • 500g fresh spinach
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • Black pepper, freshly ground, to taste


  1. Steam the spinach until it becomes tender.
  2. Strain the spinach to remove the water
  3. Cut the spinach into large pieces
  4. Mix the remaining ingredients together.
  5. Pour the mixture over the cut spinach.
  6. Mix together. Place the spinach in the refrigerator until chilled. Once chilled, it is ready to serve.
